Penzance, Cornwall Day 1: Arrive Penzance, Cornwall
To start your Isles of Scilly walking holiday you make your own to Penzance in Cornwall. We can assist with air, coach or train transfers. Many of our guests have used this journey as an opportunity to travel the world famous railway journey to Penzance via Exeter and the coast of the English Riviera, possibly one of the finest rail journeys in England. Car parking is available for the duration of your self-guided walking holiday on The Isles of Scilly.
Day 2: Travel from Penzance to St Mary's on the Isles of Scilly
The choice of transport to The Isles of Scilly is wide; the plane service takes 10mins approx and the helicopter 20mins approx . The most popular method is aboard the ship The Scillonian 3, a voyage of approx 2 hours 40mins, which is included in the price of your holiday. The ship cruises along the Cornish coast passing Mousehole, Porthcurno and Land's End. During the cruise dolphins, whales, cormorants and diving gannets are a common sight. Upon arrival on St Mary's you check into the accommodation where you will stay for the duration of your walking tour of The Isles of Scilly.

Day 3: Day exploring St Mary's
Today's walk is spilt into two parts both approximately 2 ½ hours long enabling time for a leisurely lunch in one of the pubs and restaurants in Hugh Town. The Garrison walk is approx 2 miles and takes in the east of St Mary's, an area known as Hugh. The area is steeped in history with The Star Castle forming the highlight dating back to Elizabethan times. The sunsets on this side of the island are stunning. The walk on the west side of the island is a bird watcher's haven, with sandy beaches, sea cliffs and marshland. The coastal walking is easy and extremely rewarding with pretty bays, fields of daffodils and exotic plants.

Day 4: Day exploring St Martin's
Today's walk starts with a short boat trip to the Island of St Martin's, known for its long sandy beaches and excellent for swimming. The island has many Bronze age sites and Atlantic grey seals are a common sight sunbathing on the fine beaches. The Daymarker tower, painted red and white built in the 17th century is an aid to navigation and is a famous landmark. Before returning by boat to St Mary's the Anglican church is worth a visit.

Tresco Gardens, Isles of Scilly Day 5: Day visiting Tresco and The Abbey Gardens
Today's walk starts with a short boat trip to the Island of Tresco. The Island of Tresco has much to offer the walker: a ruined Abbey dating back to the 12th century, and one of the finest sub tropical gardens in England. Plants grown on Tresco are very rare in the rest of the UK because of the mild climate on The Isles of Scilly. You return by boat to St Mary's for your overnight stay.
Day 6: Day visiting Bryher, St Agnes and Gugh
Today's walk starts with a short boat trip to the Islands of Bryher. The Island of Bryher is small but has a lot to offer with some of the best views on any of the islands, sandy beaches, great wildlife and nice places to eat. After lunch take the boat back to St Mary's and catch the boat to St Agnes. St Agnes has many Bronze Age remains and a pool said to have been made by the Lisbon earthquake of 1755. The smaller island of Gugh is reached by a sand bar. Both of these islands are a haven for birdlife. You return by boat to St Mary's for your overnight stay.
